The Last Act Family Court Needs
The Children First Act is our Trojan Horse — the key legislation we’re drafting and promoting to inject Children’s Court into existing state and federal systems. Call it the antidote to end the pandemic of corruption in family court. It creates a legal referral pathway that allows families to opt out of traditional family court in favor of a child-first, non-adversarial model.
What Is the Children First Act?
A legislative proposal that:
- Creates legal alternatives to family court for custody, visitation, and protection issues
- Empowers communities to resolve family conflicts through trauma-informed, non-adversarial processes
- Strips jurisdiction from courts where abuse, bias, and conflict of interest exists, and where profit matters more than your children
Why It Matters
- Family court has become a profit center at the expense of children's safety
- Judges and lawyers too often prioritize procedure and profit over protection
- The Children First Act gives power back to families and professionals with real integrity
What It Will Do
- Allow Children’s Court to be written into state law as an eligible forum for resolving parenting matters
- Recognize coercive control and post-separation abuse as legitimate harm
- Mandate safety-based custody determinations
- Establish legislative criteria for vetting professionals involved with children
